Alright I hope this explanation fully covers anything I may have forgotten to say in the Academy forum section. Im going to primarily cover the technical aspects of the website, such as Fame points and their significance. As well as BB code and our rules for the website. Read on to get an introductory understanding of NF.
What does this website stand for?
To get an idea of our origins, check out the [url=History thread]History thread[/url]. That said, we used to be known as the Naruto Faction back in our time in Gametrailers. Now we are more than a just a Naruto based forum, we seek to be an all inclusive website. An assortment of entertainment ranging from manga, anime, technology and gaming. Even though we are no longer the Naruto Faction we have retained our moniker NF, in unison with our motto Never Forget. For all intents and purposes the website is referred to as NF but formally will be known as NFHQ, placing an emphasis in building a strong community of related media, as opposed to a singular driven subject.
What is the Ninja Academy?
The [url=Academy]Academy[/url] is the heart of the website, the section of NF that holds all of our original content. There you will find a variety of unique web based games and features that will help you rank up within the site. The concept for the features held in the Academy are based on staples of the anime series Naruto, such as Jutsu and chakra. Rest assured this is done in name only, so you dont require any knowledge of the series to be able to participate in the Academy activities and interact with the community.
The chatbox is frequently mentioned in The Academy, why is this?
The chatbox is a big part of the site. Not only is it able to hold casual group conversations but thats also where a lot of Academy specific features are hosted. The immediacy brought about by the chatbox allows for us to conduct Spars, Card Duels, and other events that require multiple people taking part at once. Academy features like Missions and Training on the other hand, can be performed at leisure thus are hosted by other means.
Besides Academy features what other sort of activities can I expect?
The first thing you can do is post on the forum and get to know the regular NFers. That will open up possibilities for all of us to game online together, discuss new manga series and watch anime and television show streams. Besides that once you are established enough in the community you can also partake in our podcast. If youre feeling lucky theres also gambling using our in site credits to bet on the outcome of features like Sparring or Card duels. In the future as more members join up and more talents enter the fold im hoping additional options present themselves. Additional advancements like, with the creativity of NF members, create our own machinima series, written and video reviewers, "lets players", tutorials and walkthrough guide personalities, and of course the basics like signature and music editing competitions. Theres no limit to the kinds of things a passionate community can create.
In what ways can members of NF contribute to making the site better?
Any sort of contribution helps. As this is a free website our resources are limited, but what would really help is the submitting of original content. This can be artwork, videos, or scanlations anything at all. Even just using one of our site avatars or sigs with the NF name as a way to advertise outside the website. Telling your friends to join up and generally spreading the word would also be a nice boost. But the most important thing you can possibly do is think up new ideas for the Academy or build on existing visual or technical aspects to improve NF, innovation is what keeps us fresh. Above all participate.
Is there any sort of social media outreach I can follow?
Yes we have Facebook, Twitter and Steam groups. These can provide additional promotion so any input you can add helps others stay connected.
What are the usergroups at the top of the site?
Usergroups are basically factions within NF. They are useful for administrative actions and for the conducting of Missions. Since mission progress must be kept hidden from the forum, the ability to see the mission category they signed up for is given to members of certain groups, until completion. This is a temporary measure for the First Class, Second Wave and Third Strike groups.
Who are the admins to look to on site?
Jet, Lone and DarkGeneral. They have the ability to alter the look of the website and manage threads on the forum. Any questions should be taken up with them. Together they are part of the usergroup, The Council
What are Fame Points?
Fame points allow you to rank up in the faction. Points are earned by posting in sections other than the General & Academy forums. Every post in other sections are worth one point, and new threads are worth two points. After you gain enough Fame points you become a candidate for rank up. You can also earn points for participating in contests, and submiting content to the site. Content such as participating in our podcast, creating NF exclusive sigs and posters, and machinima series or video reviews. The points you receive vary for different contests, where you place in said contest and the quality of content contributions.
How do I rank up?
To rank up you must reach a certain number of Fame points. After you gain enough Fame points you become a candidate for rank up. This makes you eligible for the Genin, Chunin and Jonin exams, of which you must pass. While the Genin exam is a simple question test, Chunin and Jonin incorporate the academy stats youve built in our unique training system.
